Mo Vaughn has high praise for David Ortiz

As David Ortiz winds down his career with the Red Sox, achieving milestones with what seems like every swing of the bat, Mo Vaughn is nodding in approval from afar.

Like Ortiz, Vaughn was once the centerpiece of the Red Sox lineup, a hitter able to combine power with a high on-base percentage. He was one of baseball’s best players from 1993-98, hitting .315 while averaging 35 home runs with 110 RBIs. Vaughn was the American League MVP in 1995 and made the All-Star team three times.

Also like Ortiz, Vaughn feuded with management at times over his contract and slights both real and perceived. It ultimately led to his leaving Boston as a free agent to sign with the Angels.
